My name is Dewald van Staden, founder and owner of Tarveld Rider Co.

By trade, I am a qualified plumber, a profession that taught me discipline, problem-solving, and the value of doing things properly the first time. Over the last 14 years, I’ve built and run my own successful plumbing company — but alongside that journey, another passion has always been burning in the background.

I am a veteran GXCC and Africa Off Road Racing competitor, and today an avid adventure rider. Motorcycles, off-road racing, and life beyond the tar have never been hobbies to me — they’ve been a way of life.

During my apprenticeship years, I spent time working at Liberty Life head office. In the reception area, a quote was written on the wall:

“Choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”

That quote has stayed with me for 14 years.

Even while running my plumbing business, I always knew that one day I wanted to build something within the motorcycle and off-road industry — something authentic, practical, and built by someone who actually lives this lifestyle.

That opportunity became Tarveld Rider Co.

Tarveld was born from countless hours on dirt roads, race tracks, mountain passes, and remote trails — from fixing bikes in the bush to learning what gear truly works when conditions get tough. This isn’t a store built by marketers or middlemen; it’s built by a rider, for riders.
